Unreal Gold Installation ripped my OS (Win 7)

Hi Guys,

yesterday I was very happy finding this old pearl of game but today my whole Win 7 System is almost unusable. Many programms won´t start anymore (Acrobat PDF, Truecrypt, Word, SnagIt, Canon MP Navigator,...).

Some Error messages appear:

- apis-ms-win-core-winrt-li-1-0.dll missing
- NVCPL.DLL issue
- Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

Any idea what went wrong? And how to resolve easily?

An older Windows System Recovery Point solved the issue, but now I will never again install anything from OldUnreal, what is very sad. You should urgently solve this issue preventing others from being affected...

The entirety of the oldunreal patch is confined to thr /Unreal/ directory. It seems you had an issue with the Nvidia driver or software.

Unreal does not do nor cause this. You encountered data corruption in your Windows installation (caused by computer problems, not Unreal) at the same time you were playing or installing Unreal.

I once was playing another game (Tyrian) and it froze and I had to restart our family computer. But it failed to start up again with a hard disk failure message. It would be easy to assume that the game I was playing killed our harddrive. But it probably was already at the brink of failure and chose to have it's end while I was using it.
