What is Specular Lights in options menu???
It's not clear from the description.

"If checked, allows the game to render meshes with old style lighting."
How is the old style different from the new style?

Specular lighting adds a fake specular highlight effect on meshes, making them look plastic so to speak. If you disable that option the meshes only reflect diffuse lighting which looks more realistic, but can make decorations appear darker, so some people prefer the original lighting.

I tested some maps in 227j, and I don't see any difference between ON/Off settings "Enable Specular Lights", "Lightmap LOD", and "Curvy meshes".
All screenshots are exactly the same.
Do these settings work?
Оr have been disabled for a long time?

Maybe someone will attach a screenshot confirming the difference??

To notice difference with specular lighting you need to view around a mesh that is illuminated by some light source, you'll see it makes mesh lighting change depending on view angle.

Lightmap LOD controls how many BSP lightmaps are allowed to be visible on screen at once before it starts culling on the lightmap refresh rate (update only every 2:nd or 4:th or 8:th frame etc), can be best seen when you have some complex scene on screne and some flashing light source, it starts to flicker more choppy.

Curvy meshes is an obsolete option, it can't be maintained by current mesh render method with polygon batching (quite a good render optimization).
