Mcoop entry point not found error?

Post by nalicow »

Hello, I'm trying to start a server with the latest version of Mcoop that I could find (2.3) but when I try to launch it using the shortcut method explained in the readme (refer to attached image "Mcoop setup") it crashes and then displays this error message (refer to attached image "Mcoop Error") and I don't know enough about the technical aspects of the mod to understand what it means. My install version is Gold (RTNP) and has been patched with OldUnreal 227i.

Mods that use DLLs won't work on patched versions of the game.
They are ABSOLUTELY incompatible.

A mod that uses a DLL will only work in the game version it was created for.
It won't run in any other version.

That's unfortunate, thanks for the info.

I remember this issue of patching, and having issues joining mcoop servers. It is sad because it makes these types of mods limit the amount of player-base your server can get unless people patch-level to exact requirements. Which is really hard, to keep/sustain unless that is all someone wants to do (is play coop). I will say though, those were some of my favorite days in the game!! If you setup the server and game, lmk and I would absolutely play through with you nalicow

You could try MCoop1 instead of MCoop2. It's a long time ago but if I remember correctly, MCoop2 used .dll mods to fix problems with the Unreal game and make coop much more stable. Unreal 227 has all these Unreal engine bugs fixed so it does not need those MCoop2 fixes anymore.

MCoop1 was much simpler and may not have any of these .dll mods and therefore may still work with Unreal 227 modern patches. I don't know, but worth a try. If not, you have to choose between MCoop2+the classic Epic games patches or Unreal 227 without MCoop2.

I moved away from MCoop2 a long time ago, back in the days because JCoopZ was more stable and JCoopZ is compatible with 227 as well. I miss the fun of playing as monster tho. That was really a nice touch in coop play.
