Is there any way to find out how many SongSections in UMX file has without playing the file in game?
How can I add a section marker to UMX file?

It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Re: Is there any way to find out how many sections in UMX file has without playing the file in game?
Tracker files don't really have the idea of "song sections", it's implemented in terms of Position Jumps, which make certain parts of song loop. For mapper's convenience (and musician's annoyance), the starting positions of each section are 0, 1, 2... So e.g. if we had a song with three sections A, B, C, their patterns would be arranged in a way similar to this:
ABCAAAAAAAAAABBBBBBBBBCCCCCCC
Of course, you don't hear it in that order, because at the end of certain patterns, there are the Position Jump commands.
So the "song section" that the mapper specifies actually means the initial position, which has the interesting side effect that in theory, you could play music from any position you want, even from the middle of a section.
On the other hand, if the musician was lazy, he could arrange a song like this:
AAAAAAAAABBBBBBBBCCCCCCC
But then the mapper would have to specify not sections 0, 1, 2, but 0, 9, 17.
Tl;dr: Open them in OpenMPT and mess around.

Ok. Thank you. Your comment helped me solve one of my problems.
The question of how to determine the number of looped tracks in a Umx file remains unresolved.
I found a list of official tracks, but I'm also interested in the unofficial ones.
