Interesting stuff at gamers.org (incomplete unfortunately)
https://www.gamers.org/pub/mirrors/ftp. ... /cineplex/
there's a mirror of this at http://dukeworld.com/planetquake/cineplex/
But it needs to be sorted out what belongs to unreal and what not.
However...
there's also this
https://www.gamers.org/pub/mirrors/ftp. ... netunreal/
it is incomplete but it contains for example the "jihad" gametype that seemed to be lost and maybe there's more good stuff, some directories are empty like "fear" which is good that the version on the gamestar cd was recovered...

It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!
If you have any further concerns feel free to contact me: Smirftsch@oldunreal.com

this apparently has fearbetafinal and other stuff still. So it wasn't lost but difficult to find. No capture the cow yet though.

Re: interesting stuff
Be warned, this is "provided as is" conversion. It won't function correctly. There were too many issues converting this. I will elaborate further below the download link.
jihad conversion
The base mod itself is here:
https://www.gamers.org/pub/mirrors/ftp. ... eal/jihad/
Its basically a "domination" style mod before domination was there. You take control of one of teams which fight for a control over holy temple. Its purely fictional stuff, just the word jihad is reused due to meaning holy war. This is not a Taliban propaganda mod lol.
Now, thanks to Tim and co. removing Font as a texture subclass I had to comment it out and all, weird stuff started to happen as I ran font experiments in this way. They switched to a completely different method from 223 to 224. I checked and 223 is the last to support the "normal" fonts without this hackery in place. It even seems like a deliberate mistake that it was placed under "object" in 224 and further.
So much that yrex, being used to the modern engine version more, assumed that texture was "forcibly changed to font" even though its not really the case here.
But yea..had to do a lot of converting in steps for this and it wasn't nice at all and this package cannot even be fully reproduced anymore with current tools. Apparently unlike UE2 you still can't remove "groups" either when renaming a texture or switch it to a different package on a fly. With those firetextures that would have been handy because the original utx files referenced in exec lines are no longer there. But well...whateva.
I suppose the binoculars are the main thing worth here and most likely the only thing functioning correctly. That "riotgun" thing was unfinished even in the base mod.

Re: interesting stuff
Looks like there's a bunch of stuff to upload to the Unreal Archive for future preservation...
