UT: Forgotten Classics Bonus Pack in the works

UT now belongs to the "old" Unreal as well. Supporting it for OpenGL and Sound its time to put up a board now.

UT: Forgotten Classics Bonus Pack in the works

Post by Victor Delacroix »

Forgotten Classics
Bonus Pack
Concept: Victor Delacroix
Coding: Artifex
Mapping:
- Cliff Bleszinski (Night Op, Tutorial][) - Alan Willard (Liandri][)
- Angelheart (AMariner)
- Hyperion (UT Space Logo)
- Epic Games (UT Beta Logo)
Skinning: Epic Games
Desktop: Epic Games
Skin Compiling: Dr Payno (Retro), Victor Delacroix (Purple Babe)
Extracting resources from the beta (Logo, Desktop, Purple Babe): Victor Delacroix
Logo & Desktop port into regular UT: Artifex

What is this all about:
==========================
This Bonus Pack will feature most, if not all exclusive content from UT Beta plus some cool additions, as well as a fixed version of the Ancient Mariner DM level by Angelheart.

What exactly is ready:
==========================
Logo Maps: Beta and Space. These are replacement title screens for UT, that can be used instead of the standard UT title screen. These are presented below:

Desktop: the blue desktop wallpaper for UT, to be used either by OldSkool, or OSX Background Changer.

Maps:

Liandri Central Core: Lower Deck --- DM-Liandri][
-----------------------------------------------

This is the lower level of Liandri Central Core, a level from the retail UT.

Tutorial ][ --- DM-Tutorial][
-----------------------------------------------

A strictly 1on1 level, just you and your opponent. The only weapon on the map, apart from what you carry, is the shock rifle.

Night Op --- TDK-NightOp
-----------------------------------------------

A DarkMatch map from the classic Unreal, with music added. Also, the Tournament DarkMatch gametype gets unlocked during the installation of the bonus pack.

Ancient Mariner --- DM-AMariner
------------------------------------------------

A fantastic galleon by Angelheart. A few minor fixes by Artifex & me, cosmetic changes only, but it plays a bit better now IMO.

Skins:

Male Soldier: Retro
------------------------------------------------

A skin from the beta of UT (like most of this bonus pack's content), ported to retail UT by Dr Payno.

Female Soldier: Purple Babe
-------------------------------------------------

A skin from the beta of UT (like the one above), ported to retail UT by yours truly.

What is planned:
==========================

Title Screen Selection Menu
-------------------------------------------------

This is supposed to be a frontend for selecrting custom title screens, such as the beta's Rotating U, or Hyperion's custom Space. Another feature of this will be a built-in mutator that will allow you to play CityIntro and go to the selected Title Screen instead of the default one. It will "see" maps only with "UT-Logo" prefix. Screenshots for the three title screens already in existence will be built in with the U file, just as OldSkool's map-pack screenshots.

Please note that the screenshot above is a concept done in Photoshop, not an actual screenshot.

DM-LiandriCombo
-------------------------------------------------

This will be the two Liandri maps combined into a single level.

Command Control
-------------------------------------------------
//=============================================================================
// CommandControl.
//=============================================================================
class CommandControl extends TeamGamePlus
config;

// Sort of like domination
// Rules: You must get uplinks from your command center.
// (can only carry one at a time)
// placing an uplink at a controlpoint gives you control, plus
// creates a warpzone link back to commandcenter
// damaging enemy command center resets all controlpoints to neutral
Help needed:
==========================

Due to a longshot concept of the title selection screen and the Liandri Combo level, not to mention the Command Control, we need a mapper and a coder. If interested in joining the project, please send e-mails to: delacroix02@tlen.pl - I will not dare to ignore a single e-mail. Every attempt of help will be much appreciated.

Send PMs to people, no one will risk publically posting links to betas...

BTW, recruitment is gonna be closed soon, all projects except Command Control have been taken care of and will be ready in a matter of weeks. All we need is a coder, that would do Command Control.

Title Screen Selection - Raven
DM-Amariner botpath fix - Deadkatz
DM-LiandriCombo - Deadkatz

Wow, that really looks good! I really don't like the city map on UT start, it should be small and loop instead of telling a story! The background looks cool as well, and DM Introduction :D I think that there could be all other introductions as well (though it's easy to make a map from intro, I think).
How is it going with it? It looks quite halted to me?

It's not halted at all. ;) I am one of the main mappers for it, and slowly but surely, everything is going to plan. :)

Also, it was me who brought almost all of the ut beta 2 maps to the Forgotten Classics BP, as well as other stuff I created. :)

Hopefulyl Delacroix will remake the thread that was lost at BuF, and post an update here. He has been extremely the past year or so, but eventually, progress will come. :)

Also, he only mentioned this on BuF iirc, but a public v0.80 has been released. It needs OldSkool to be releasesd (however, the maps I created was not publshed into this release due to I onlystarted in October of 2007, and this came out in January of 2007.

here's the v0.80 public download Link: DOWNLOAD.

Thanks to everyoen who supports this mod. I'm very glad to help otu Delacroix on this, he deserves it. ;)

Tc,

RoninMastaFX.

Bump!

Somebody asked me to upload this pack since, well, all links were dead, and I happened to have Milestone Alpha 5 saved on my backups. After trying in vain to upload it to the Archive (not Shrimp's fault, the connection of the place I'm vacationing in sucks), I decided to just upload it to one of my accounts. Here it is.
