It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

How to get the name of the texture for the poly currently selected?
In UnrealEd1 clicking parts of the map will highlight segments with a blue overlay. Select Matching Texture will get polys using the same material but how do I view the name of the texture currently applied to it? Would save me having to manually go through textures and it can be a chore when you have 7 different rock textures.

You can only do that with ued2 or a custom editor. Or examining t3d files. It's basically impossible to do with classic ued. Unless UEd 1.0 works very differently from its younger brothers:
Select the surface, CTRL+C
Open Notepad
CTRL+V
You'll get something like
With "TEXTURE=BarrensArchitecture-epic.Base.bas-lp-floortile2" as your texture in the usual format.

Yes, i get the same empty text.
I could dig through the t3d text one poly at a time but I'm hoping for a time saver.

By the way, you can also use Alt+Left/Right click to quickly set/get the texture.

Starting with UEd 2.0, yes. In the first version, it only says "Surface properties (X selected)".
