Hi there - I've been playing both Unreal & gold with the 227i patch for a few days. For some reason the audio has stopped working and I cant get it back. I'm not aware that I have made any changes. My PC audio works for everything but nothing within Unreal:(
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Realtek High Definition Audio is the sound device. I am unsure which sound device is selected within Ureal.
I had a simliar problem before where I was using the wrong shortcut (to safe mode) but I dont think this is the case.
I have also snoticed that sometimes when I click the Play Unreal shortcut I am presented with a menu (safe mode being one of the options) but sometimes the game justs starts without the option menu. Thanks again

It looks like OpenAL has a problem communicating to your audio device. I would try to test resetting your Unreal's OpenAl options and test if Galaxy or FMod also fail.

You will need to enable OpenAL with "Realtek 3D-Soundback"

Hi - I tried Galaxy and FMod but there was no audio. I then downloaded the Realtek 3D Soundback and installed but this made no difference. Is there something I have to select or activate? Thanks

Have you tried updating or re-installing your sound card's drivers?
It is a bit unusual that ALL of Unreal's sound systems produce no sound. This makes me think it is something in the OS or drivers.

This part of the log shows that it can't initialize the output, not even on default device, which should work almost always. You could try in advanced options in the audio section if you can set up another output device for it, but other than that I pretty much agree with hyper, something seems to block the output and the first address is always the driver. Also possible is that some other application is blocking it, but normally programs don't do this either. Perhaps there are some advanced logging options in OpenAL itself which could reveal more, but I don't know these off hand and they require some alsarc file iirc.
