no idea about fmod without further information, but you should try to install OpenAL from http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/Downloads/Forms/AllItems.aspx

if you cant open preferences without a crash ,
you could try to change it back to galaxy manually in the ini file AudioDevice=Galaxy.GalaxyAudioSubsystem

The program "ALCapsViewer" available from the site Smirftsch gave you, will show you what EAX/AL support your sound-ship has.

Try setting both FMOD and AL to use software mode.
Sometimes you may have to manually set the "FMODDevices" from "PrimarySoundDriver" to your soundcard name.
Also try changing the "FMODOutputs" from "DefaultDevice" to "DSOUND" or "WINMM".

If that fails, check the Motherboard and Soundcard manufacturer's sites for driver updates/fixes or info.
Especially check for issues with OpenAL/EAX and your sound chip or card.

First. Sorry, I gave you the info for the newer Unreal audio.
There are less options for the current UT version.

The principal is the same. Disable the hardware options, and change the output options to either DirectSound or WaveOut.

Your screenshot's show that you do not have hardware EAX support.
This may be part of the issue.

Found the spec-sheet for your series.

Odd. It does not list EAX 2.

There is a recent Windows 8 driver update though.
Release date : 25 Jan 2013

I suggest checking with the viewer tool again, after you update your driver (again I urge you to make sure your MoBo chipset drivers are also up to date).

You may have to test EAX/AL capability with some alternative tools.

Personally I would suggest that unless you have installed Win 8 on a touch-screen device, you would be better-off re-installing 7.
Unless you buy an over-lay for your screen, you can't even use it properly.
If you have the pro version of 8, then you also get the option to just turn it back into 7.

I advise for people to try the Windows 8 "experience" first before buying. You can still ask for 7 on a new PC, (saving you money) then add the individual parts of Windows 8 that you find usefull.

Its working. I dont even know why started. I just reinstall creative drivers. Also used alcapsviewer for 64bits and 32. Then i start a game by checking at properties (right mouse button on icon) to start as windows 7 and by administrator. And everything was ok. I was suprised so I decide to uncheck all and its also working. Wierd stuff. Thanks guys.

Most likely it was due to driver issues. I have the exact same card, and its drivers are horrible across the board...

After poking about, it seems many Windows 8 users have issues with EAX  Sad
Wink A lesson from this (and every previous Windows) is wait for the spring (SP1) release of any Windows if you want to avoid head-aches.

MS made a lot of hostile decisions towards EAX/EFX overall, it seems. Don't forget Vista, where they outright dropped DirectSound hardware acceleration...
