deus ex 1: crash revolution

for some reason does my copy of deus ex 1 crash everytime i try to load a saved game from within a game. (like you die and load a quick save). i tried various things (patching the game, changing rendering device, running the game in safemode) but nothing helps. since it is an unreal engine game did i      
thought somebody here is better in reading the logs than i am.

That's odd. You try the D3D10 renderer for DX?

Also I just installed Deus Ex yesterday. I've had it for a long time, but this is actually my first time playing it.

Looks like a file is corrupt. Try reinstalling and repatching to 1.112fm {or something similar to that}

there is no D3D10 ad far as i know for deus ex. al i can chose from is 3Dfx glide, D3D and software.

and does this mean its true what they say? that when somebody mentions deus ex somebody is going to reinstall it? XD

also reinstalling and patching doesnt work. something that might have something to do with it is that the sound sometimes cracks.

if your had read the first post you would know i already did Grin

anyway, i got it to get less crashy (played for a hour and it only crashed ones, which is not much seeing how hard i suck at stealth games Cheesy) by downloading (i know, not legal) the game of the year edition.

altrought i don't get why this works since its just the updated version of the game and with the patch i installed before should my version have to be the same as this one. maybe my disk is damaged or are there are some slight changes i don't know about.

It's perfectly reasonable for him to want a working copy of the game he has, and it's also perfectly reasonable for his copy to be slightly corrupt over time. CDs aren't supposed to have a lifespan over 10 years {Deus ex came out in 2001}

The ULinkerLoad returning a NULL is a 100% notification to me that something failed to load, and the only way that can happen is with a corrupt file, and I can probably guess which one it is.

US law says it's legal for him to download a new copy; and besides.. he didn't post any links, and anyone who would want to download whatever wouldn't be looking on OU that's for sure.

I think we're in the clear as long as he's not requesting nor linking anything.

i live in europe (the netherlands to be more exact) so i am not sure what the law says about it right here. anyway, when i google this it seems to be a grey area of the law. nobody really knows or its legal or not.

Did you save while playing the game unmodified, install a mod (like shifter, new vision, or hdtp), then attempt to load again?

What happens if you start a new game, save, then load?
