Progress is going slow on this.  I spent quite a bit of time getting that Skaarj model working(we'll trying to get it working...) but have put that on hold to get back to the more fun part which is the mapping itself.
At a guess the '% done' for the map is about:
85% meshing/layout
50% sound (quite a few of the original sounds are in!)
25% other(journal entries, custom plants, kismet etc...)

Regarding the screenshots, I have to agree that it must be apparent that the Nali have an architectural style. In it's way, that was apparent in the original game. In making more detailed structures, make sure you do give the Nali an architectural point of view that remains consistent through out. Something that when we see it, we think of Nali. It can be very abstract. This is merely a guideline.

As for progress, I only asked because it's been sometime from last update. Now we know why. Can't wait to see that skaarj in action.

I agree with ya Trent on making sure I keep up one style for the Nali architecture!  It's rather important that I make a house that I like as I'll be working more on that in future maps!

I've currently been working on an underwater area for the map as the under water areas hadn't been worked on and were rather barren.
I also wanted a more 'alien world' feel to the map and I'm happy with the current progress on it.

...


I attempted to make some emitters for birds and fish...but failed miserbly...  Cry 
If anyone knows how to make one let me know!  Smiley

If he will use a remix, he will probably go for something more in the direction of "FlightCastle 2.0" than this - The one you sent will most likely fit a multiplayer version of the map. It's supposed to have a very similar feel. And I think he's more likely to extract it straight from the *.it file using something like Renoise or OpenMPT.
And there are also some MIDI soundfonts in existence which seen to have been sampled in the MODs of Unreal - Namely those of MIDI keyboards like Roland JD-990, Korg Trinity (As far as I know, Alexander Brandon uses a Trinity for composition to this day) a Casio keyboard (?) and several others. Like the Synth Strings/Pad that is unique to Unreal's style is listed under the JD-990's "Massive Pad" patch entry, and several Korg synthesizers have it as well.

Those latest screen shots are phenomenal. It's exactly the kind of visual detail I would want to see in an Unreal sequel.

I agree with William R. It's a nice 'personal' touch to have a few crystals embedded in the cliff. I like the little things like that.

It creates the illusion of new discoveries in a familiar place. Like going back to your high school 10 years later. It's the same familiar place, but it's not. It's a strange new land.

I'm very happy to hear yaz say that as that's what I want to achieve. 
I want people to be able to relive the experience but also feel they're experiencing it for the first time!

One of the other resons why I went with the decision of having Tarydium everywhere is I want it to feel like an alien world rather than it feeling like you could find an area like this here on earth.

To give away my plans... all underground Tarydium is now blue, like the original and any exposed to the open atmosphere is green.  Think of it as something like the surface Tarydium is oxidizing in the atmosphere!
I plan to have other 'unique' properties that will affect gameplay elements as well.  Reason is that I want to also modernize the gameplay is some aspects.  ..eg, have a few new things to keep it interesting!  Wink
