Using Sunlight

I've been snooping through the new editor supplied by the new Unreal 227g patch and I have noticed the new light actors "DistanceLight" and "SunLight". DistanceLight seems to work like a charm, but using SunLight renders the map black when rebuilding. Is it bugged or does it need to be used in a special way?

I think that is only a special "sun" corona effect, but I could be wrong.  I also messed with Distance Light and I found it quite useful in one of my maps...

Differences to normal DistantLight:
New Icon
Set TO HIGH Radius, seriously no map might need such a big sunlight radius ever. I guess this needs to be corrected in 227h as well. I remember this small issue but forgot about it, but I told dots, so I guess he forgot about it as well.
Just check the code you will see that this thing is not any different to the normal DistantLight, he created it for those who dont know to use the DistantLightActor. P.S: I am not joking, that thing has no special intended purpose.

Sunlights are directional, they illuminate down from skybox at the direction of the sunlight actor.

PS: UT2004 Sunlights have no special purpose eighter.

So SunLights have to be placed in the skybox in order for these actors to work?

The location of the actor does not matter, only direction.

Yeah, I checked it out a while ago. Works wonderfully.

Even though I don't think I will be able to use this feature, as my project uses multiple skyboxes...  Undecided

Edited:
Oh wait, reducing the SunLight's radius solves the problem. Cheesy

I'm trying to make NyLeve use sunlights now, and there's a slight problem with that... For some reason, even though CSG geometry is lit properly, meshes are dark:

...

Any idea about what is going on there? I tried both adding them in the skybox and adding them into the map itself, the result is the same.

Edited:
Oh, oops, it appears that I have to do a complete rebuild, geometry and all, to make it affect meshes!

I'd say on your screenshot everything looks quite bad: there are almost no shadows on BSP objects : look at the house, its walls are dark but the floor around it is entirely lit...

No, that's because of the gamma correction applied to screenshots... The screenshot doesn't look nearly like it looks on my screen, unfortunately.
