I preffer UT99

Imo UT99 if enough counts the double online player number. Thats simply because of the culty chracters which are unexplainaby better visible in a way ... .

UT2004's player count would lower dramatically if you took out all of the demo servers, though.

Personally, I think UT3 is too close to UT2003/UT2004. The weapons are great, but I don't like how jumping is the only way to move around (assuming you're not using the hoverboard or vehicles). I also can't stand how Epic just threw a bunch of characters from the previous games (like Othello, Loque, and the Krall) without making them remotely similar to their old versions. It just seems so pointless.

The graphics were too confusing
Like you said the 2k7 Enforcers SUCKS
The Onslaught system is plain awful
Not to mention that the bots are way too smart,at Novice they shredded me...

In UT99 I play with Experienced bots and I OWN them easy.
maybe I'll boost to Skilled...

You just need to get used to it. I felt similarly when I first played it, but after you play a few more matches it gets better. Oh, and the Blossom mutator mostly solves the first point there.

The enforcers are actually awesome in UT3. The problem is that it's never documented how you're supposed to use them. You're never supposed to hold the trigger, ever. Instead, you need to manually press the button and let the gun cool down. It then shoots with pinpoint accuracy - in fact, in VCTF-Sandstorm, I killed an enemy just next to my flag base using an enforcer while being on the highest floor of the tower with the Berserk powerup. The enemy was like a few pixels large, but like I've said, pinpoint accuracy if you use it correctly.

I don't see how the system is awful because it's the same system as always. There are orbs to compensate for the lack of BR, but you can turn those off.

The main problem is that Unreal games are usually playable out of the box, each game adding something to the previous game.
UT3 needs something to correct its graphics and has nothing that UT2004 didn't have. Great graphics ? Check. Editor ? Check. Vehicles ? They're the same. Gamemods ? Basically the same with a few variations and some missing. Maps ? I don't see the same number of maps and no awesome one like the previous ones. What it all boils down to is that
1) UT3 is not a bad game if you've never played any Unreal game.

3) UT3 is the best game of the series except if you like aiming, seeing, playing.
4) UT3 is the worst game of the series if you liked any of the previous games.

But I cant try UT3 itself because of my PC specifications! Probably the KI is abit better if not alot. Now I heard that UT2004 allows easier modding but arent there actually difficult alpha layers on the skins and arent the native models too characteristic for skinning anyhow ...?

Except if you actually take time to install MapMixer and Blossom, after which most of these issues go away. Sure, vanilla version is a far cry from being good, but with mods it starts to shine.

UT3 has VCTF-Suspense.
