GPF in Win2k on Unreal I Startup

Just did an install of Unreal I on a Win2k Pro machine (with an ATI Radeon 7200, latest beta drivers as well as the "recommended" ones). When I try to run it, I get a GPF saying "History: FLightManager::Init <- URender::Init <- UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine"

I've tried with the most recent patches (226Final, OpenGL Driver V2.1.0.5, etc.) and all I ever get is this error.

Can Unreal I run under W2k Pro? Is that the problem, or is there something else? Any help is appreciated.

will it boot in safe mode? if so try some of the different drivers for your video in adv options or try the latest openGL patch here in the downloads section. I have 4 machines all running Unreal with Win2k pro and server and 1 has the Radeon card.

Nope, I get the exact same error in Safe Mode. The error occurs when the "Unreal" splash-screen comes up (that's as far as it gets before it GPFs).

Incidentally, I get a very similar error when I try to run UT Editor.
